Lillian DesMarias Youth Library, a branch location of the Livingston County Library, has the Early Literacy and Outreach Coordinator position open. Duties include facilitating early literacy programming and outreach programming for ages 0-4, develop rapport with parents/caregivers, and facilitating the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. Duties also include circulation responsibilities and offering great customer service. This will be high-energy, multitasking, detail-oriented, full-time position. If you are willing to sing, chant, and dance with toddlers while they learn the joy of reading this position is for you on the Library Team.

Minimum requirements of this position are:

• A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Some college is helpful, but this job could be performed by an intelligent, well-organized person with appropriate experience.

• An advanced familiarity with the library’s collection of fiction, non-fiction and reference materials

• Maintain an understanding and appreciation of children’s reading skills and the concerns of parents and other adults who work with children.

• Good communication skills and customer service skills

• Computer skills

• A valid driver’s license is a MUST.

Preferred requirements of this position are:

• Two (2) years or more experience working with early literacy learning for ages 0-4 years and their parents/caregivers.

The position would be full time, 40 hours weekly with benefits available. Availability for evening and rotating Saturdays are a MUST.  Starting salary: Dependent upon experience
